Restoration of bird ponds in park environment

In many of the UK’s urban areas there are bird ponds in park environments.

Often these water systems are highly burdened by nutrients and organic matter from bird droppings. This in turn leads to lowered oxygen levels and usually an anaerobic bottom environment that emits methane gas, hydrogen sulphide and leaches phosphorus. Methane gas is a serious climate gas, 30 times worse than CO2, and it is of the utmost importance to counteract methane gas formation.

Hydrogen sulphide and other volatile metabolites from the digester flora create odours that can be troublesome for both seabirds and park visitors. The problem can be remedied with a microbial method where 100% natural microbes reverse the negative development.
